Gameplay
How does Cowboy Quick Shot work?
Hold your iPhone pointed down at your side like a gun in a holster. When the app signals "draw," flip your phone upward. Motion sensors detect the start of rotation and measure the time from signal to movement in milliseconds. The whole thing runs on Core Motion at 100 Hz.
What is a good reaction time?
Average human visual reaction time is around 250 ms. Regular players score 220–350 ms. Fast players hit 180–200 ms. Below 150 ms usually means you anticipated the signal — which counts as a false start.
Why does it say I false-started?
If you move the phone before the draw signal fires, the round is counted as a false start. This keeps reaction times honest — you can't game it by anticipating the call.
Is the random delay actually random?
Yes. Each round generates a fresh random wait between 1.5 and 4.0 seconds via the OS random generator. There's no pattern, no cycle. We trained ourselves trying.
Multiplayer
Can I play with friends?
Three ways: Showdown — two phones face-to-face on local Wi-Fi. Tournament — pass-and-play bracket for 4–16 players on a single phone. Async best times — share your personal best via message or social.
Do both phones need the same Wi-Fi?
Yes — for Showdown mode. We use Apple's local-network discovery (no public internet needed). If you're somewhere without Wi-Fi, you can use a phone hotspot from one device.
Technical
What iOS version do I need?
iOS 17 or later. Works on any iPhone with Core Motion support (iPhone 6s and newer). Tablet support is available with a slightly modified holster pose.
Does it work offline?
Yes. Solo play, tournament mode, and personal record tracking all work offline. Showdown uses local wireless. The only thing that needs internet is sharing scores.
Will flipping my phone break it?
No. The motion is a normal arm rotation. We strongly recommend a case and a secure grip, as with any motion-controlled game. We will not be liable for slippery hands.
Money + Privacy
How much does it cost?
Free, with zero ads. There's an optional one-time unlock for unlimited multiplayer rooms and a couple of cosmetic revolver skins. No subscriptions, ever.
What data do you collect?
None that identifies you. Motion data stays on your device. Crash reports through Apple are anonymous. Read the full privacy policy.
